How to measure TV size

The size of a TV is typically recorded in inches. It is found by measuring the screen diagonally from the top left-hand corner to the bottom right-hand corner.

It’s important to remember that this measurement is only the ‘screen’ size. Don’t forget to factor in the frame when you’re making your choice as, depending on the design, this can make the overall size of a TV considerably bigger.

Is a 55-64 inch TV right for you?

55-64 inch TVs are some of the most popular on the market, largely thanks to the fact that they offer an impressive screen without taking up too much space - allowing them to sit comfortably in most rooms.

For optimum viewing and enjoyment, it is recommended that a screen should occupy around 40 degrees of your field of vision. To work out how far away this means you should be from your TV, simply take the size of the screen and multiply it by 1.2. So, for a 55 inch TV screen, ideally, you want to be sitting around 66 inches away and for a 64 inch screen, around 77 inches.
